Busy Day, Grocery Budget, and Rude People

Today turned out to be quite busier than what I had planned for it to be. We dropped hubby back off at work, went and ate some lunch at the park, went to the post office, and then we went to the tag agency to get our tag. That's where my day took a turn for the worse. Upon getting there, one of the workers there approached me, asked if she could help, and I told her what I was there for, to get a tag for my new van.

She told me what I needed to do, one of which was to write the current mileage in these little boxes down at the bottom of the page. I wrote them in wrong. I started at the wrong box. Easy mistake. Well apparently it was the most awful thing I could have done, because when the woman saw this, she started griping me out. I'm not talking about her just saying you put it in the wrong spot. I'm saying she raised her voice so that everyone could hear her and proceded to ask me what was wrong with me and oh my gosh, I can't believe you did that.

You all don't know me in real life, but let me tell you if you did, and you saw this happening....my face was about as red as a firetruck. I am very quiet, I don't like drawing attention to myself, and I certainly don't handle people making fun of me and yelling at me in public very well. After that she told me she didn't think this was going to work and I would just have to order a whole new title and I probably wouldn't get it back in time to get my tag before it's due date. I asked her what I was suppose to do then? She said, let me take this to my boss. Walked off into another room, came back and said, she's too involved with something and will be all day, so I guess you'll have to come back at another time.

I think along with the redness, you might have seen fumes actually coming out of my ears, although I'm quiet, I have a temper and I was about to lose it. I walked out and immediately got on the phone to my dad (who, by the way just recently won his ward for city councilman, go dad!) and told him what had happened and he said, I talked to the boss and she had no idea that this was going on, and you go in there and ask directly for her and she'll take care of you. (My dad has definately got the gift of gab, thank you dad)

I went back in there and she apologized and I told her, I'm sorry I made a mistake, but ma'm I don't know any person who hasn't, do you? And your employee had no reason to imbarass me like she did. And that was that. I could have thrown a bigger fit, but that's just not my style. So now, I have my tag and ouch did it hurt to write that check.

Then came the grocery shopping. Man oh man. I know that my grocery bill is probably not bad compared to some, but for a family of 5 to eat breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks for 2 weeks, as well as some dog treats, a container of ice cream, diapers and wipes, and a 24 pack of T.P., I spent 200 dollars! I just thought it would be better than that. I guess I could have done better on a few things, but whew, that was another hard check to write.

I guess I'm just going to have to take a step back and really look at what I'm doing. What can I make from scratch that I usually buy? One thing I did buy was a couple bags of the larger tortillas, I was going to make them, but I just decided to take the easy way out and I just can't get my tortillas flat enough.

No, we didn't need the ice cream, but sometimes it's just nice to have. I'm going to start working on some menu plans and see if I can pinch pennies any tighter.

Now, we're home and all ready for bed. Tomorrow promises to be busy as well. We'll be catching up on schoolwork, doing this week's baking, and then we have a cub scout banquet to attend tomorrow night in which they'll be serving bbq. Yum!

With our tax return, I was able to buy curriculum for the remainder of the year. We'll be schooling during the summer too, with short breaks periodically.

Also, I went ahead and bought the 2 books I was talking about...Managers of their homes and managers of their chores. It was a special gift for me that my hubby said I could have.

Well, I'm off to bed for now. I may not have much time to post this weekend. I pray your weekend is a safe and blessed one!

Bad Day

Sara,

I'm so sorry that the lady at the tag office made such a scene with you. I had a similar experience many years ago, and it isn't fun to have people be so rude to you in public. My face can turn bright red too! I also walked into a potential explosive situation, but I had to face someone about a very improtant issue. Fortunately by facing the truth with this person the situation turned out quite well. I was afraid that I would anger the other person, but the other person wasn't mad at all. I worried for nothing.

Well, anyway, I'm glad your dad helped you to set things right. I honestly don't understand why the lady didn't give you a new form to fill out. What's the big deal?
Blessings,
Jan
