Blessings From Home

Freezing Friday

Things are busy here as usual and today will turn out to be an out of the house day. My cupboards are bare, well, not completely bare, but I'm seeing parts of my pantry and icebox that I haven't seen in months, so that means, it's grocery day. I've been shopping for 2 weeks at a time and I'm really loving it. I just hate getting out and going every week and try to avoid stores at all costs. I would like to make the switch from shopping at the big chain stores like walmart and shopping at our local grocery stores. The cost is a little higher, but I've come to the realization that if we don't put our money back into the local companies, things will steadily continue to go down hill for our town and economy. I'm not saying, I'll never walk in our super walmart again, but I'm going to try and only go there once a month and only to get the things that are too expensive at the local shops, like bathroom stuff and paper goods, and dog and cat food. I'm not sure yet which store I will end up at today, because my list is a big one.

I've also got to make a stop at the post office and to get the tag for our van. That's making me a little nervous. Not sure how much we'll have to pay for that. But it has to be done.

We'll also try and fit school in there somewhere and the usual laundry and housework. Hoping your day is a blessed one!

Good luck today. We got our van tag a couple of weeks ago and it did go down from the first one we got down here (that was over $300) and this time it was a mere $182. Not bad...I'll like it better when we reach at least the $70 range, though.

I hadn't been shopping for anything more serious than milk in nearly a month. This stock-up trip was scary price-wise! Raccoons are devastating my chicken coop, so we are back to buying eggs....they went from $22 a case (15 doz) up to $30 now. The powdered milk was $13 a box and it's hit nearly $17 now. Amazing...I know gas prices just flew sky high around here, but I wasn't aware the dairy cows and chickens operated on unleaded fuel :o(

I pray you find great prices everywhere!
