Monday's Mutterings and a trip to the vet

Today we had to take our cat, Shiloh, to the vet. The poor thing had scabs all over her neck and had almost no fur on her behind. Turns out, she's allergic to fleas. What an awful thing for an animal. She also had some kind of bladder problem, either infection or stones the vet said. So she got a shot of steroids, an antibiotic that she has to be given twice a day, and I bought some more of the expensive flea stuff to put on her.

Tomorrow we will be taking our dog, Grace, to the vet for her regular shots and a once over. We also have an appointment in the morning for WIC. I would really like to do without using this, but it really helps us, especially with milk and other grocery prices on the rise, and with the exception of insurance for the kids (because we can't afford what hubby's work offers) we don't abuse the system.

This weekend was spent doing lots of decluttering and cleaning, and I even managed to make a skirt for my daughter. I took a pair of old jeans that she managed to rip a hole in the knees and made a broom skirt out of them with some extra material  I had.

We watched about half the superbowl. We usually have a big to-do for superbowl, but nobody seemed that interested this year.

The rest of the day I will be working around the house, I'm going to bake some bread, and hopefully do some more decluttering. I've really been getting rid of a lot of stuff and it feels so good. I told my husband, I'm actually really excited at the prospect of moving to a smaller home, as I know it will make it easier for us to get rid of things and really simplify.
