Another Week Ends...

This week has been one of our colder weeks that we've had yet. We hit the teens last night with wind chills down in the single digits. I'm so thankful to be warm inside with my family.

Yesterday we had ice and snow, and ofcourse it would be the only day the doctor could see my daughter, so we got out in it yesterday. She has an upper respiratory infection and she put her on antibiotics and a cough syrup. Last night was the first night of good sleep that both of us has had all week. So far she's been the only one who has gotten this yucky stuff and I'm hoping to keep it that way. We're all taking lots of vitamin C.

Last night for dinner I made homemade chicken and dumplings. A warm meal for a cold night. I was so excited because it was the first time I'd ever attempted it and it tasted just like my grandma used to make. It brought back lots of memories from when she was still with us.

I've been feeling very overwhelmed with some things here lately. I've been keeping up with the dishes and keeping the living room picked up, but it seems that the rest of my house is just in pure chaos. I go into a room to start working on it only to throw my hands up in the air because I just don't know where to start. There's a good chance that we may be able to move into that small farmhouse that I mentioned the other day. And it is much smaller than where we are now, so that means it's time to really simplify and declutter as much as I can, as well as just do some general cleaning. I've decided that since I am so overwhelmed that I'm going to break each room into sections or jobs to be done. For instance, the master bathroom.

~Clean out and wipe down the medicine cabinet

~Pick up and wash all dirty towels and laundry

~Declutter, Organize and clean the top of the cabinet and sink

~Declutter, organize, and clean under the sink

~Declutter, organize, and clean the cabinet drawers.

~Clean the shower

~Clean the toilet

~Declutter, organize, and clean the towel cabinets.

~Wash rugs

~Vacuum carpet

Then I can look at my list and accomplish one thing at a time. Work on the medicine cabinet, and then only if I have time, work on the top of the cabinet and sink. That way I can go through every area of that room, and declutter it, organize it, and clean it and then move onto the next room. Hopefully this way will be a lot easier for me.

As for the farmhouse, my dad talked to the family friend that owns it and he told my dad that when he passed away that it would be his. That was very kind of him. Until then, we think that he'll let us fix it up so that we can move in when our lease is up in April. We'll be going out to talk to him about it this weekend. It's definately not fancy, and it's a little run down, but it's homey and like maa said, who cares, it's in the country. And we'll be able to live there for next to nothing. Well, I'm off for now. Lots of work to do.
