My First Big Shopping Trip

I have always shopped one week at a time, and it has worked for us. But I've gotten to where I just don't care to get out in all those crowds of people every week to get our groceries, especially during this time of year. So today I decided I would shop for the next 2 weeks. I even got all the food for Christmas. I was so excited! I wanted to be very organized and make sure I got everything I needed. So first I wrote out my menu for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, then for the rest of my menu, I used the menu and shopping list that Crystal over at The Family Homestead sells in her shop. They are wonderful! The list is divided into meat, dairy, baking goods, etc. I went in with the mission to only buy food and a couple paper products, and I did it in 2 hours. So now we have enough food for the next 15 days!  The most that we should have to go to the store for is milk. When I got to the register, it hurt a bit to pay so much more at one time, but I kept telling myself that I won't have to be back for more than 2 weeks, and honestly except for all the extras that I bought for Christmas meals, I spent a lot less than I would have, had I shopped once a week.  This blesses me in so many ways, but the number one way is that I will get to spend more time with my family instead of wading through the crowds at the store. I still have another shopping trip in mind for Christmas shopping on Saturday and then I will be done with Christmas shopping! Praise the Lord!

In other news, Tomorrow I have to take my kids to the dentist in the morning to get their teeth cleaned, and then we will hopefully be able to come home and get to work on cleaning, baking, sewing and finalizing my shopping list for shopping on Saturday. I pray your day is a blessed one!

Blessings,

Sara

For our family, this is an ongoing thing.. with ten children it seems we always have someone at the dentist. My Sarah Grace just had to have one tooth pulled earlier this week because it broke off... YIKES! I hope your appt goes well. Have a blessed weekend with your family! With much love, Mrs. Joseph Wood

Glad you are making progress on your menu planning and shopping. Hope all went well at the dentist.
