Blessings From Home

Stop the ride, I wanna get off

There's one thing that I just don't like about the holidays, and never have, it's the going and doing all the time. It just never seems to stop. In fact, as a child, I hated Christmas, because I had to have Christmas at home and then travel to another place and then to another place, and so on. I just wanted to stay home and play with my toys. lol. Deanna at Hands N Hearts challenged us to be home more, and I couldn't agree with her more. I try to get out only once  a week to do my shopping and am working towards only every other week, but right now with all that must be done...cub scouts, church functions, school stuff with my daughter, I usually have to get out at least three times a week. Why can't I just stay home? Ok, enough whining. I feel better now.

Tonight we (meaning the cub scout troop, and mom here) marched in the Christmas parade. Well, the moms and dads marched and the kids rode on a trailer(not really fair, huh?lol). I walked 14 blocks, not much I know, but since I didn't realize that I would be having to walk( they asked parents to come to supervise, and yes they needed supervision. Some of those kids were hitting people in the face they were throwing the candy so hard.) And I wore a dress and some very uncomfortable boots. They're comfortable for just everyday wear, but to walk that far on the street. Oy! My feet are aching!

We also had a ton of errands to run, and I had to take care of my brother and sister today. They're older, but my sister is having some issues and needs supervision, and my brother has down's syndrome and still needs to be taken care of. So we have been going all day. And I still didn't get everything done that needed doing. So tomorrow looks to be another day out. Yuck!

So tomorrow, I'm going to spend the morning working around the house. So much to do here. I'm going to try and squeeze a little school in, and then tomorrow afternoon, we'll go and finish up our errands, which mostly includes going to the post office and getting groceries. Saturday, I'll be gone all day on a Christmas shopping trip with a good friend of mine. I wanted to go with my husband, but he said he'd go with me if I was going alone, but he'd prefer to stay at home and rest, if he had a choice. I told him my good friend had some shopping to do, so we'll go together. Nicholas will be going to a friend's house and staying the night, and the girls are going to my parents for the day. And hubby said he will rest at home and spend part of the day cutting down some more firewood, and getting it stacked under the carport to finish drying. It's not green, it's just wet from all the moisture we've had.

Then Sunday, we have Church and the Christmas play, which my kids aren't in, thank goodness. We just don't have enough time. Monday is my parents 25th anniversary, and we'll probably have dinner with them. And then hopefully, prayerfully, the rest of the week will be a little bit calmer. Next Saturday, we have a Christmas party to go to, but we may not attend, it just depends on the rest of the week. Well, enough of my rambling, I'm off to bed.

Many Blessings, Sara

Sara,
I would rather stay home too!!! Especially with all the snow we have here now. I didn't go anywhere yesterday and am not planning on it today.
Hope the week slows down for you; enjoy that shopping trip.

Learning to say no...

Is so challenging especially this time of year. I know for our family we have to stay at home so we can have His peace in place... otherwise it seems we are always trying to get caught up from being gone and we are never just living life together. Staying home more also gives us more time to do those things that we seem to have a hard time finding time for. I pray that you will be blessed and you will treasure each Season that the Lord leads you in! Love, Mrs. Joseph Wood
