Monday at Home

I'm posting this in hopes that it will motivate me to get up off my rear and get some things done. I am feeling very puny with a sore throat aching and a bit of a headache...a side effect of not having any more dr. pepper... 

But alas, the duties of the home are still all around me, and I have got some things that really need done. It appears that I am the only one who is still sick, except for the lurking cough my youngest still has. So for today, here's what I would like to get done.

~Keep up with the daily tasks...dishes, laundry, keeping things picked up, etc.

~Make some bread

~Make some granola

~A short school day-math, language arts, and reading  Actually it turned out to be a longer catch up day for us.

~Do some decluttering

~Make a menu and shopping list for my Mom's birthday party. She'll be 50 and apparently I've been put in charge of everything. I think I'll be making Deanna's sticky chicken.

~Make my Thanksgiving menu and shopping list

~Work on quilt blocks and a shawl I'm making

And that will be all for me...I'm off to try and get busy. Have a blessed day!

I have some other 'bulk menu' ideas if you need them, but the Sticky Chicken is always a hit! If you make several, just pull them off the bone, tucking some of the seasoned skin in here and there, and place on the serving plate....or you can debone it and place it in an electric roaster with some chicken broth to help keep it moist and sit it on a low setting to keep it warm.

Your mom will have a wonderful birthday I'm sure. Let me know if you need any more large-scale menu ideas. I have a wonderful Amish Church cookbook here that makes 35 or 50 serving amounts....

Christmas

Love your ideals. Life at Christmas is so much more enjoyed when the focus is on the things we need and not want. Sounds like you have been thinking on this alot and I am proud of how you have decided to change. The world is trying to take Christmas out of Christmas but really Christmas brings Christ to the masses. We have to remember the life given so we can live in peace, joy, love, faith and more. With out Him life isn't much of living. May your Thanksgiving and Christmas be one of many cherished memories and Blessed hearts. It is ALL about HIM! *U*
