The Week Ahead

Rashel and I decided that we would keep each other (and anyone else who needs some accountability) on our toes and on our routines. Well this week looks to be anything but routine for us, but I am going to still be working on trying to have some semblance of normalcy and routine. I figure if I can do that this week, then I can do it any week.

I know what needs to be done, and I've accepted the fact that if things get off track then all I have to do is pick up where I'm at. Usually if things get out of sorts, I give up all together and just quit...But no more! My kids need a better schedule and routine and so do I.

I'll be going to bed just around midnight tonight, which is in about 40 minutes, and I'll get up at 6am. I am also planning a nap at around 1-2pm tomorrow while the other two rest, as I've been finding a need for a little extra rest in the afternoons.

Some things going on this week in addition to my daily tasks of keeping the home and schooling my son are...

~The impending funeral of my aunt. I hate to talk about it when she's not yet gone, but it's inevitable and something we must be ready for.

~I have some sick little ones. I don't know that it's more than a cold, but they've all got the sniffles and a congested cough now. I may be having to make a trip to the doctors this week.

~Cub scouts on Tuesday night.

~I volunteered to go on a field trip with my daughter this week to a farm in a nearby city. It will be on Thursday, and I will be gone most all of the day. That is my shopping day, so I will probably go on Friday this week to get my groceries.

~I am starting all over on trying to potty train our dog. She's such a stubborn thing. She's a 5 month old miniature dachsund. I've had this breed of dog before and never had an ounce of trouble crate training them. But Gracie May is a different story. Right now, my training her consists of letting her out every 4 hours on the dot throughout the day. 6 hours through the night. No water after 9pm. Letting her out for at least 5 minutes to ensure that she does her business. She eats twice a day and is out for 30 minutes each both times and let out immediately after that. I don't like keeping animals pinned up all the time, but find it necessary with a dog who is so stubborn. As she learns, she will be allowed out more and more. She is in the kitchen so she has lots of company, mostly me and she gets lots of attention when she's not whining and barking in their. She will learn or I'll die trying.

~Wednesday is halloween and I did not want to celebrate it, but my husband did, sort of. (He felt a lot of pressure from his parents.)  I wanted to follow along with him, but it turned out there wasn't a single costume that would fit any one of our children that we found suitable for them to wear. So it was settled that we will not celebrate Wednesday as halloween, but as a day to celebrate the changing of the seasons. We got some fall plates and napkins. I found some fall cupcake liners. And I got some fall cookie cutters. I told the kids they could dress up if they liked in clothes from their dress up chests, but it would only be for around the house. We may hand out candy with some church invitation cards, but we're not sure yet. The Lord has worked this out for us. Some may see it as still celebrating the day of halloween, but it is our effort to make a change in our lives. Hubby and I both agreed that we would not even recognize the day at all next year. We may still continue with our fall party, but not to replace halloween.

~I also have so many sewing needs to get done. But time will come for that.

~I need to go talk the hospital about my recent ER visit and the bill they sent me for $875! All they had to do was check my urine, give me a shot of pain meds and write me an antibiotic prescription. I can't believe it cost that much. We don't have insurance, but good grief.

That about sums up my week. I'll try and get on in the morning in my allotted time for the computer to put up my to do list and then update at the end of the day. I pray your week is abundantly blessed!

Love,

Sara
