A Trip to the ER

{ 07:51, Wednesday, October 3, 2007 } { 4 comments } { Link }

Yesterday turned out to be a really bad day. I woke up just fine and then I got a really sharp pain in my side that lasted all day. I took some ibprofen and eventually took a pain pill from a previous problem to no avail. My husband came home and decided he needed to take me to the ER. It turns out I have a UTI and kidney stones. We don't have insurance and so all we could do is let them give me a shot of pain medicine and some antibiotics. I'm going to be trying everything I can to get rid of this naturally. I've got my big jug of water to start drinking. I would appreciate prayers on this. I'm still very uncomfortable and drowsy from the meds. I'll update when I have time. Thanks so much.

Sara

I don't have alot of suggestions but I will pray for you. Did they tell you to drink cranberry juice? You might also check this post http://www.homesteadblogger.com/songofjoy/68270/
by songofjoy, she had kidney stones recently, maybe she could offer more help.

My dh had the same problem. He was in the hospital, twice. This was years ago and what really worked was time at home and a lot of fluids and they passed on their own. He says that it was very painful. My prayers are with you. I

Make sure if you drink cranberry juice it doesn't have sugar in it. Most of what is in the store has sugar, which will make things worse while helping very minimally.

I had a UTI a few years ago, and I bought a bottle of strait cranberry extract - vile stuff - I had my mom pick up at a health food store for $8. But after the 3rd day I was suffering so bad I started to take it by the shot, a few tablespoons at a time. I noticed a *big* difference!!! So it ended up being very worth it - I just had to get bad enough to actually drink it.

I'm so sorry you're going through this . . . hugs and prayers!!!

I second that on the cranberry....and I also second the fact that it is simply nasty tasting stuff! But it works so well! I tend to keep cranberry pills on hand.

I will keep you in prayer -- try to rest!
