Blessings From Home | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Wednesday at HomeThe weather is just so beautiful this time of year. I will say it got a little warm in here around about three in the afternoon, but the blissfull breeze when you walk outside is just wonderful! As usual my children and my beloved are all sleeping soundly and here I am up too late for my own good. Today was a productive day, albeit a little depressing. I found out today that I am most definately not pregnant. I realize that it is just not meant for right now, but maybe someday soon the Lord will see fit to bless us with another bundle. I managed today to get my kitchen cleaned thoroughly. And you know something I've realized is that my whole house could be a wreck but if my kitchen is clean, I'm a happy lady. I don't know what it is about walking into that room and seeing everything just as you know it should be. It makes me want to be in there cooking and spending time just enjoying it. And speaking of time spent in the kitchen, I made something new tonight for dinner and it was very good, especially with fall rounding our corner. It was Taco Soup. It's one of those recipes that you can pretty much throw whatever it is you have on hand in it and it would be wonderful. I got the recipe over at Crystal's Family Homestead and it is definately a keeper. The one thing I substituted was the corn. I didn't have just a plain can of corn, but I did have a can of mixed vegetables and it still turned out wonderfully. I also used ground turkey in place of ground beef. We served it with some fresh homemade cornbread, and a little cheddar cheese and sour cream on top. The kids even loved it. Tomorrow will be a busy day as usual. It is our errand day. We have to go to the library, the bank, and to the store. I am going to pack a picnic and take the kids to the park to eat if the weather holds up. When hubby gets home, we are taking the kids over to my folks for a short visit while we take both our vehicles out to the mechanics for an estimate of what needs done. Hubby and I are thinking about just trading in for one vehicle and may just do so depending on the damages. But I am reluctant to want to have to have a car payment after not having to have one for a year and a half. We shall see. I'm going to try and get up early and look over our budget. I am going to start something new this week. I usually just go to the grocery store and write out a check and pay for how much ever I end up spending, or worse just swipe my debit card. But now, so as to stick to a budget so that we can really start saving, I am going to do the cash envelope system. I'm going to leave my checkbook and debit card at home and will only spend what I have in cash for that week. If I go over then I will have to put something back. If I have extra, then it will go into savings. My goal is to spend 70 dollars or less every week to feed our family of 5. I was spending 75 or more, so I'm slowly decreasing our grocery bill every month. We'll be eating a lot of beans and soup for the winter. What is it about having to fork over the cold hard cash that hurts so much worse? Well, I had better get myself to bed... an early day tomorrow and lots to do. I pray your day is abundantly blessed!
