Saturday~Family Fun Day/Deep Cleaning Day

~Saturday is a day where I like to spend the early part of the day doing some deep cleaning and then the latter part of the day doing something fun with the family.

~This morning I was awoke by my two early risers at 6:30am...no rest for the weary I suppose. We decided to take it a bit easy and eat breakfast, watch some cartoons, and laze around until about 9am. At 9am, I got dressed, and finally started my day. I started by getting the kids ready to go for a visit with their nana and papa. After I got them all ready, lunches packed (to make it easier for nana), we were off to her house. I dropped them off and headed back home for some intense cleaning and lesson planning, with only a quick detour to a garage sale that caught my eye. No finds this time though.

~After I got home, I turned on some quiet music, since hubby was still sleeping (he really deserved to sleep in today, he had a rough work week), and I got busy. I started by cleaning the living room and putting all the kids toys in their rooms, putting all the paper clutter in a stack in the den to go through later, and do all the little things I like to do to make the first room you see in my house as welcome as I can. Then I moved on to the dining room, where I did the same thing as I did in the living room and wiped down the wood table. Then hubby woke up and helped me hang a big picture I'd been wanting to hang, but needed some help.

~Then I went to the den. The den is sort of the catch all for our house. School papers, toys, laundry(the laundry room is right off the den), all my extra sewing supplies. For some reason, this is the smallest room of the house, but we seem to want to cram everything in there. It's also where we'll be doing a lot of our homeschooling...the computer is in there, the whiteboard, my sewing desk, and all of our books and learning things. So it is very important that this room stays as organized as we can keep it. For today I just did some basic cleaning and organization and will organize and declutter more as we move through our days of schooling at home and gathering in all the supplies we need. I spent some time filing, something I don't do often, but realize I need to do more of.

~Then it was family time. Tonight's family time was spent at my parent's house watching the OU football game. This is almost always a family affair, although football is not a big thing for me, I enjoy the time together as a family. After the game was over, we headed back home where I put my sleepy little ones into bed, did some cleaning up in the kitchen, and headed in here to do some blogging. After I'm done, I'm going to be spending some more time organizing the den for a bit and then head onto bed. It will be another early day as church is tomorrow. I didn't manage to finish doing my son's lesson plans for the next week or so, but I can do that tomorrow or Monday.

~I have enjoyed sharing my days with you the last week. But have to say, I did it more for myself than others. It has helped me to see what I'm doing in my day, things I need to improve upon...such as a regular sleeping schedule for myself, getting my chores done as soon as I can in the morning so I have more time to devote to my family in the afternoon.

~When I started this week, I had no idea that things would take such a dramatic turn in our lives. I remember saying last week, oh, next week won't be anything out of the ordinary, just a regular ole week....boy was I wrong?  I went from only dreaming of homeschooling next year prayerfully to my prayers being answered and being a homeschool parent this week. It's amazing the things that take place in your life when you put God in control. Well, have a blessed night....

Love,

Sara
