For those of you with little girls...

who don't homeschool...As most of you have read, my husband has asked me to hold off on homeschooling this year, but I am curious about those of you who have chosen modest dress for you and your daughters that go to public school. I have a 5 year old daughter going into kindergarten, and I really want her to continue to wear dresses, but I worry about when she goes to the playground, which is at least 3 times a day at her school. Do you think she'll be able to play and run around without much trouble, or do you think I ought to invest my time in making her some culottes? I know I can make her some bloomers to wear under her dress, but kids are so active at that age, playing on the big equipment, sliding and swinging, climbing ladders, etc. I was just wanting some input on this if you don't mind.  Also, if anyone has any good patterns they know of for cullottes, I'd love to see them. Thanks a bunch.

Hi my little girl had to go to public school for a couple of months last year. With her dresses I just made sure to keep bloomers or shorts under her dresses. It was such a witness. I first thought that she might get picked at but all the girls ended up loving her dresses. The moms would even stop and tell me about how thier daughters loved her dresses. I had fought the idea of putting her back in pants but the Lord had smote my heart about conforming to the world and giving up what he had first laid upon my heart. Hope this helps God Bless You

depending on the weather, I always put shorts or leggings on dd under her dresses and skirts. Walmart has had a nice selection of skirts with shorts sewn into them the last few years too.

my daughter is only 3, but her dresses seemed so immodest with just underwear, with her running and playing and chasing her 5-yo brother. I took a pair of shorts that came with a pajama set, cut them up, made a pattern (they were real simple - two pieces, the same shape), and made her 6 pairs of shorts to wear. and she knows she has to wear them under her dresses. we are not a dress-only family (I am sitting here in my jeans), so I also told her that the shorts are only for her dresses, not to wear as shorts with a t-shirt. they are a little too immodest (tight) for wearing alone.

ps - I think they were Carters brand pjs...
