Two Diapers Made....How many more to go? I have finally sat down and started making Emily cloth diapers. I am such a procrastinator. But anyways. It took me a while to do the first one yesterday, but today since I had some experience, it took me about an hour to make the second one. Now I'm just not sure about how many I will be needing. Generally she uses anywhere from 5 to 7 disposable diapers a day. She turned 2 in April and will probably not need these for long, but better late than never, especially when you're saving money and I can stick them back for possible future children...God willing. I guess I'll start off with about 10 and see how we're doing then. I can wash every day if need be, but would like to be able to wash every other day. The diapers I made are pocket diapers. I used some plain ole white PUL fabric for the outside and some leftover flannel for the inside. For the stuffers I'm using some microfiber kitchen towels I got at Walmart. For now until I get enough done I'm alternating the cloth diapers I have with disposables. It worked really good. The only problem I've incurred so far is a little problem with the velcro. Does it soften up a bit as you wash it or do I need to trim it up or just use something else all together? It chafed her leg a bit and I don't want it to irritate her skin. I'm going to shoot for making one diaper a day until I get enough. I'll try and post a picture of one as soon as I get a chance. These aren't professional grade at all, but they work for us. She was able to wear one of the cloth diapers for a couple of hours and then I only took it off to check it and decided to change her then. Anyways, I would love to hear your opinions on the velcro and any cloth diapering tips. Oh, and I got the pattern from here...
