Thursday Thoughts

Well, I spent most of the day shopping, a fun but tiring thing. I went to Goodwill and got gobs of stuff. Let's see...I got 3 jumpers, 2 skirts, 1 pair of culotte style shorts, and 2 shirts for me...3 dresses (1 Ralph Lauren and one Gap) and a skirt for my middle daughter, a cute old fashioned looking denim dress for my youngest daughter, a pair of shorts and a button up shirt for my son. All of that for the very reasonable price of 40 dollars. Can you imagine how much all that would have cost me new? Did I need to spend that much on clothes today? No, but we definately were in need of some new clothes. I am in the middle of converting myself and my daughters to dresses only and my son is in the middle of a much needed growth spurt (he's so small for his age) and is outgrowing everything. His shorts look so short on his long ole legs that seem to have sprouted overnight.  I've been sewing a lot, but I couldn't make these clothes for what I paid for them. I couldn't find my girls any sandals that would fit them, so I ended up going to Pay less and finding them some very cute sandals on clearance. Then it was on to the big W. Walmart that is, for some desperately needed groceries and other things. I bought for almost 2 weeks worth. I have decided to start trying powdered milk...with 5 kids here all day, I'm going broke on milk and having to go to the store for it every couple of days is draining my gas....If we only had a cow...or a goat even...Well, Someday...

My kids are going to vacation Bible school this week and have been having a blast. Tomorrow is the last day and then Saturday they're having a carnival, but unfortunately we won't be able to attend because my son is having a Rain out tournament. They're trying to make up for some of the games we lost (about 6+) to the rain. We'll be there all day. Not my idea of a fun day exactly, but we'll live. We actually only have to play 3 short games, but the fields are so far out, that it would just be a waste to go home for 20 minutes. Thankfully t-ball season is almost over...I think we only have 4 more games after this week. And boy am I ready! I'm pretty sure this  is the last year we'll be coaching. It just takes up too much time and energy for us. That's how I feel about it anyways, I'm not sure how my dh feels about it. Sometimes he loves it, sometimes he's ready to throw in the towel. But baseball is in his veins. He played from t-ball through high school. I guess we'll see.

Well, it's late, I'm trying to get ready for tomorrow. I have big plans for tomorrow and this house. My nieces will be here and I've decided I'm going to put them to work. I'm making a list of all the things that need doing and who I think can do them. I also have some serious baking to do tomorrow. I try to do my baking Saturday mornings, but we obviously won't be here, so I'm going to get busy tomorrow. Bread, muffins, rolls, cookies, and maybe some cinnamon rolls if there's time. Quick question for those reading my rambling...what do you keep your baked bread in? Just a baggie, or a plastic container. I'm always looking for ways to save money and was looking today for a plastic or glass container that I could put my bread in but I didn't find anything. I guess I can just reuse my baggies...What do ya think? Well, I better get to bed if I'm going to be super mom tomorrow and clean my house in one swoop. lol. I wish. Hopefully we'll get something done. G'night..

Blessings,

Sara

Be blessed

I pray you are blessed abundantly as you serve those you love! How fun to make and share all those goodies! I don't know for sure but I think the plastic baggies would work just fine. I will love reading the final result and wish you all the best!

thanks for commenting on my blog. I have enjoyed reading yours and will add you to my list of friends. I am glad you got bargains at Goodwill. I am a true thrift shopper and love yard sales and thrift stores. I haven't found too many people that live around me here that feel the same. In my old neighborhoods that I have lived in, I have always found some friends that would go with me on Saturdays to yard sales and we had great times. Well, have a great weekend.

Bread Boxes

Hi Sara,

I found you through Hands and Hearts blog. We are both in Oklahoma! Small world. I'm in Lawton, down in the southwestern corner.

I still use gallon size baggies and put my goodies in the fridge. My grandmother swore by her bread box. She would put the items wrapped in flour sack towels in the box and they wouldn't dry out. If I had more counter space, I'd get one from an antique shop!
