A Scary Moment

We had a small scary moment tonight. We have had some severe weather coming through our area for most of the day with major wind gusts knocking the power out this morning and severe storms with cloud to ground lightnening all around us this afternoon and evening. We are still under a severe weather alert and are watching for tornados as well.

Honestly I haven't seen a storm come through like what we've had today ever, and I've lived here a long time. But back to our scary moment...

Let me first say, I love my husband so very much, but he was raised in a home with a tv in every room, and so was I for that matter, but as we've grown, we both have different ideas about that. I could live without tv, or at least without cable and have one small tv for movies maybe, but he can not. So here in our home we have 3 tvs of varying sizes, none are new or super big by any means, but come on, who needs 3 tvs?

So we sat down tonight after a long (and very rough day for me with the children) and after eating out some little ceaser's pizza, (which was only 10 dollars to feed us all by the way), and we were watching a movie together, (we happened to win a free rental the other day), and decided to rent journey to the center of the earth, (not a bad movie by the way).

We're all watching the movie, hubby had dozed off, the storm outside was raging, when all of a sudden there was a sort of explosion and although the power didn't go out, it apparently surged through our old house taking out whatever it could as it did.

After realizing there was no pending danger, nor need to evacuate the house, we surveyed the damage. So far we've found that it took out our family room tv, our dvd player, our main air conditioner, a small tv that we kept in the playroom, my son's alarm clock, and it blew out 3 brand new compact fluorescent bulbs in our ceiling fan.

We're pretty sure that's all that it got, but will know more tomorrow. I have to say although I'm not happy it happened, I'm kind of glad we'll be down to only one tv, and there's no way we can afford another one anytime soon. But the air conditioner being blown will pose a problem come next summer, and we'll have to figure out what to do about that. My dad is going to check in with the insurance guy tomorrow and see what he says, and if we're lucky we can get a little money to at least help us buy a replacement a/c.

I am so very thankful that nothing more happened and both hubby and I agreed that it could have been so much worse and we could be watching our home burn to the ground or who knows what else. So we thank the Lord for his blessings and know that whatever he sees that we need will be taken care of. I just hope He knows how hot it gets in Oklahoma. lol. Just kidding.

Blessings, sara

You are lucky and blessed that it didn't cause more damage than it did!!! Thank goodness it didn't cause a fire you were unware of or something like that!!!

I also was brought up in a house where there was a tv in practically every room (even he bathroom during superbowl. lmso). We now have three tvs as well. LOL One in in our living room and it is for tv watching and movie watching with the family. We have one in the bedroom, but we rarely ever use it. It is nice to crawl in bed with our little one and watch cartoons sometimes. We also have one upstairs in our guest room. We had a college student stay with us last summer for several months, and we had an extra, so it went up there. They are all old, except the one in the living room, and that one was given to us. In fact I think the other two came from my parents, so we didn't pay a penny for them. LMSO

God's Blessings,
Amy Jo

Yeah, our storms get pretty interesting here in Oklahoma! Glad to hear that you guys are okay though. It could have been so much worse.
