~*~Dream All You Dreamers~*~

Today is a run-around day in the city.  Every day is a run around day.  I usually try to find some whimsy in the world around me, as I rush past it.  I can be grateful for the dew on the curvy branches of the yellow city trees.  I sort of feel sorry for these trees, trapped in concrete.   Why they dare to change into beautiful hues of yellow, orange and red, I will never understand.

It's a little difficult to create an online magazine.  Right now,  I am doing the November "ThanksGIVING" issue, where we take a more conscientous approach to the general ideas of the Thanksgiving holiday.  I am interviewing Kathy Stevens, who runs the Catskill Animal Sanctuary in upstate New York.   The past five years for her have been about saving factory farm animals.  She has built a dream sanctuary, and I can admire her.  It is a peaceful place....clearly VERY different from what proper farmers would deem "suitable"...

When I mentioned my blogging about farm life, then the alternate of SAVING farm animals, she gives me the look most people give me "how in the heck could you say you want to run to a farm?  All your city values are at direct odds to it'.
She DOES have a point.  I'm a vegetarian.  I like funky clothing.  I'm all into the eco thing.  Hmm....I'm a hippie?  A hippie who wants to live on a farm, I guess.   Considering that a recent study said that 80% of all women have at one time in their lives had a fantasy of living on a farm, I don't feel too bad....though I do wonder WHY that is.....hmmm.....

Oh well, off to finish articles, and other mayhem :)
PS...Here's a farmer's market in upstate NY...

About Me

Welcome to the tales of a city girl trying to bridge the gap between rustic charm and the hectic world of the city. I live for rural bliss. I make crafts, I love animals and nature. I just happen to live in the city. I'm starting the "rurban" (rural/urban) movement. I just happen to own an online magazine regarding all of this ~ See more at: www.bigtownfarmer.com
