movie meme

{ 01:51, 2007-Jun-28 } { Posted in nonsensical memes } { 6 comments } { Link }
Stoled another meme from Rachel, because she has good memes. Did I need another excuse?

Basic principles: go to IMDB and pick seven (or another number, she wasn't too picky) of your favorite movies, and then post some keywords from each one and see who can guess which movies they are.

I would point out that it's cheating to go to IMDB and do a keyword search to find the answers, but I rarely get responses to reader-involved memes anyway, so that would be pointless.

Furthermore, if I do receive any guesses, I will follow suit after Rachel and italicize those that have been correctly guessed.

1. Invisible Monster / Crisis of Faith / Single Father / Crop Circle / Baseball / Psychological Drama
No, I'm not kidding. (Those are some of the less abstract ones, too!)

2. Crime / Phone Booth / Neo Noir / Drugs / Loss of Loved One / Deception

3. Romance / Tragic Hero / Revolt / Honor / Kilt - Braveheart
(Oh, come on, that last one should all but give it away!)

4. Father Daughter Relationship / Britain / Period Piece / Class Conflict

5. Father Son Relationship / Hit By Bus / Lake Michigan / Architecture / Romance / Fantasy

6. Based on Poem / Australian Bush / Cowboy / Whipcracking / Brumbies - The Man from Snowy River

7. Musical / Coming of Age / Guilt Complex / Betrayal / Fratricide

8. Comedy / Pirate / Funny Accent / Evil Prince / Secret Identity / Battle of Wits - The Princess Bride

9. Thriller / Colonialism / Railway / Animal Attack / Based on a True Story

10. Leukemia / Marriage / Stage Play / Teen Rebel / Coming of Age - A Walk to Remember

11. Neo Noir / Anarchy / Based on Graphic Novel / Revolution / Dark Hero

There you have it. Eleven of 'em.

Well, as some of you may know, the eggs that Rafter was setting on started to hatch on Wednesday. By Friday morning when I left for Tennessee, all nine had hatched. None of Phoenix's chicks had pipped yet, as she had gone broody after Rafter did.

Well, upon my return, my mother informed me that all eleven on Phoenix's clutch had hatched as well! Now, only two of those eggs were actually Phoenix's. One was from Matilda, our other half-bantie, and the remaining eight were from our standard chickens, although we're not sure which rooster sired any of these chicks. Now, on to the pictures!

Some of Rafter's bairn. All of them are hers except for the chick farthest to the left. That is the single chick resulting from someone managing to get in there while she was still laying in her secret spot.

Phoenix and "her" bairn. A very colorful bunch so far.

One of the interesting color variations. Several chicks from both broods are black like this with rust-colored faces. One of the chicks from Rafter's bairn, Pan, has that color all over, as evidenced below (Pan is the farthest to the right):

Isn't 'e cool?

Meet Shiny Object, one of the chicks in Phoenix's care. The only one of this coloration. I'm interested to see how it turns out. Don't you wish you had a Shiny Object like me?

pirates are unimaginative

"You know, for all that pirates are clever-called, we are an unimaginative lot when it comes to naming things."
        "Like?"
"I once sailed with a geezer lost both his arms and part of his eye."
        "What did you call him?"
        "Larry."

Meet Larry.

Leave it to a random commenter on WorldMagBlog to verbalize the feeling that has been lingering in the pit of my stomach since I first saw him on a debate:

"He's extremely photogenic, wife is gorgeous - as is his family - and, of course, he's worth a quarter of a billion to boot. From a political PR man's perspective, I suppose Romney is a Republican packaging dream. I also think Romney is the political equivalent of a bright, shiny object. If birds had voting rights in the US, no doubt they'd vote for him in flocks." - Scaramouche

Bright, shiny object, indeed.

the story of my life: an ipod meme

{ 08:52, 2007-Jun-3 } { Posted in nonsensical memes } { 0 comments } { Link }

Well, I was browsing over at Everyday Mommy (http://www.everydaymommy.net/everyday-mommy/2006/9/5/moms-for-modesty.html) - apologies for the unhinged link, but my pop-up blocker is being belligerent and won't allow blog dialog windows to come up - and I came across this meme. Due to the fact that I love memes, but lack an iPod (a problem which you, my readers, could remedy if you chose to be so benevolent), I opened up Napster and set my master playlist up to shuffle.

This is honestly how they all came out; some of the ones toward the end do not make much sense, but quite a few at the beginning turned out to be quite humorous, either in title or in content. At times, it was both. Enjoy, and if you post the meme on your own blog, leave me a link in the comments. I enjoy reading these!

Instructions:

 1. Put your music player on shuffle.
2. Press forward for each question.
3. Use the song title as the answer to the question even if it doesn’t make sense. NO CHEATING!

How do you feel today?
Chasing Cars - Snow Patrol

What’s your outlook on life?
My God's Enough (Psalm 73) - BarlowGirl

What does your family think of you?
How To Save A Life - The Fray

What do your friends think of you?
Wanted Dead or Alive - Bon Jovi

What do your exes think of you?
We're So Far Away - Mae

How’s your love life?
Blaze of Glory - Bon Jovi

How will your love life be in the future?
Embers and Envelopes - Mae

Will you get married?
Breakfast Table - Chris Rice

Are you good at school?
Who Knows - Avril Lavigne

Will you be successful?
Nobody's Fool - Avril Lavigne

What song should they play on your birthday?
Gunpowder and Lead - Miranda Lambert

What song should they play at your graduation?
Life Is A Highway - Rascall Flatts

The Soundtrack of your life?
Anything But Ordinary - Avril Lavigne

You and your best friends are?
From Underneath - Hawk Nelson

Happy times:
Mayberry - Rascall Flatts

Sad times:
Backwards - Rascall Flatts

Every day:
i repent - Derek Webb

For tomorrow:
Let Go - BarlowGirl

For you:
Keep Holding On - Avril Lavigne

What does next year have in store for me?
Claire de Lune - The Best of the Most Relaxing Classical Music in the Universe

What do I say when life gets too hard?
Simple Man - Lynyrd Skynyrd

What song will I dance to at my wedding?
If Everyone Cared - Nickelback

What do you want as your career?
wedding dress - Derek Webb

Your favorite saying?
Little House - The Fray

How will I die?
Letters to the President - Hawk Nelson

So, according to this meme... I will be a wedding dress designer that is anything but ordinary, and I will die due to a hit from paragovernment assassins due to my political activism. Otch.

(Well, all right, the paragovernment assassins was my own addition... but it makes sense, does it not?)
