“Character is more important to God than worldly success. You will derive more contentment from being the person God wants you to be than from being successful in the eyes of this world. Don’t harbor a negative or critical spirit. Let the Lord work in your heart and teach you to manage your emotions in a healthy way. Remember, the Bible says it’s easier to capture a city than to rule your emotions.”

~ Rory Noland, The Heart of the Artist, page 227.

Mmm. Can I get a hearty Amen?

"Die before you die. There is no chance after."
                                                         ~ C. S. Lewis

Upon first glance, one might feel led to think, "Well, duh," and keep right on moving. But if you mull over this statement from a Christian worldview and apply it to the concept of dying to one's self and living for Christ... 'tis a very profound statement. Just thought I'd share something else that made an impression on me today.

"Lord, so far today I've not been grumpy, selfish, greedy, envious, proud, or angry. I'm really pleased about that. But in a few minutes now I'm going to get up, and from then on, I'll probably need a lot more help."   ~ Anonymous

on a library trip

We stumbled upon this quote while looking up C.S. Lewis in the book of quotations.

He that but looketh on a plate of ham and eggs to lust after it hath already committed breakfast with it in his heart.

I paused. "Say what?" Then I laughed. Then I pointed and said, "It's a bit heretical but... wow..."  He laughed as well.

Another great quote discovered.
