Broody Chicken's..

Wow, when one Silky hen goes broody, they all must. I have buff orpington's broody and silky's broody. I'm not real sure how many buff's are on nest, they free range and hide there eggs out. The kids love finding there nest. And I have 5 broody silkies. They are on turkey eggs. My turkey hen hasn't went broody, but those silkies have and I took the turkey eggs and placed under them. I also have turkey eggs in the bator, so hopefully, in a few week's we'll have baby turk's running around here. It is a good thing that I put away 15 dozen eggs in the freezer this past month and 8 dozen the month before that. Cause we're not getting many eggs right now.
I also found out what the kids are calling the little male goat. They have named him Buck. It is kinda fitting to him after spending some time watching him. LOL And here I thought they named him Duke which would also be fitting a Nubain male. Anyway, Penelope is just a beautiful little girl, and hopefully in a couple of years, she'll make a dandy milk goat just like her mother.
That's about it for right now.
Many Blessings,

Busy Days..

What a week it has been already. I have 2 sick kids, one is camped out on the couch and one is camped out on the floor right now. Bless their hearts. Hopefully, they will start feeling better SOON.
Well, I have almost finsihed the baby blanket, I just like a couple more rounds on it. And I'm really getting a lot done on the Care Bear afghan. I haven't worked on it in a couple of days, with the babies being sick, I can't think about my stitches. So I'm sticking to simplier stitches, so I'm working on the baby blanket.
On the homestead, we have broody chicken's, we have a broody goose. Stay away from her and her husband. OUCH!!!! The kids have been staying away from them right now. Those geese can be mean getting around that nest, even within 10 feet of that nest. My garden is looking really great. Can't wait for fresh veggie's. And we have named our baby goat's. The little nanny has been named Penelope, Penny for short. She is just so cute!!! The little billie has been named Duke, I think that is what Sweet Pea named him. I'll have to confirm that a little later.
Well, that is it for right now. I have egg's boiling for pickled eggs.
Blessings,

Homestead Happenings

I have 6 turkey egg's in the bator. I'm praying that in 30 day's I'll have some little turk's, I love turkey's, they are my favorite farm animal. I just love the one's we have and I pray that there will be some baby's in 30 day's. I hope Monica will go broody and hatch her on, but she usually don't go broody until June. So hopefully, she'll hatch her on. Also, Sunshine's goose has started laying, when that happen's you know Spring is offically here. Hopefully, she'll go broody and hatch these. Geese make there nest and lay it full of egg's before going broody. She didn't go broody last year, but she was also only 1 year old, so hopefully, Sunshine will get her gooslings. She is all excited over them. The geese are her's, that is the only animal she has really asked for outside of a horse.
I have little seedlings up, in the planters. So hopefully in a few week's they will be ready to go into the garden. Has anyone else got garden fever besides me???? I haven't had this kind of garden fever since I was pregnant with Sweet Pea, and yes, I worked out in the garden and I did LOAD'S of canning while pregnant with him. I've heard so many women say they just couldn't do that while pregnant, so they let their garden's go and completely forget about it. It was the best kind of excersise I could get. And that is where I could find some relaxation. Anyway, this garden fever is really getting to me. LOL I want to be out in the garden so badly. Hopefully, after this rain has passed and the ground dry's up a bit, I'll be able to get some things out.
Well, I think that is all that is happening on the homestead.
Blessings,
