Broody Chicken's..

Wow, when one Silky hen goes broody, they all must. I have buff orpington's broody and silky's broody. I'm not real sure how many buff's are on nest, they free range and hide there eggs out. The kids love finding there nest. And I have 5 broody silkies. They are on turkey eggs. My turkey hen hasn't went broody, but those silkies have and I took the turkey eggs and placed under them. I also have turkey eggs in the bator, so hopefully, in a few week's we'll have baby turk's running around here. It is a good thing that I put away 15 dozen eggs in the freezer this past month and 8 dozen the month before that. Cause we're not getting many eggs right now.
I also found out what the kids are calling the little male goat. They have named him Buck. It is kinda fitting to him after spending some time watching him. LOL And here I thought they named him Duke which would also be fitting a Nubain male. Anyway, Penelope is just a beautiful little girl, and hopefully in a couple of years, she'll make a dandy milk goat just like her mother.
That's about it for right now.
Many Blessings,

Another Project Started

Well, I started another project, hopefully I can get this done before Father's Day, if not, it will make a great Christmas gift. I've started on the Nine Patch Afghan in shades of brown. Here is what I have decided on mine. Nine block pattern will be Coffee and Off-White, it will take 60 squares for the Coffee color and 48 blocks of off-white, I have 9 blocks of each color done. The outside blocks will be done in Brown and and the setup will be Tan and if I can find varigated brown's (I don't remember what it is called) I'm going to use it for the 20 blocks inside the afhgan. There is a diagram of the afghan on that link Nine Patch Afghan, to show you what I'm talking about. So there will be a total of 285 squares to make. I have 2 of the 12 nine patch ready to piece together. And since I don't like having a bag of squares sitting around, I'll be putting those blocks together tonight.
I haven't been working on cross-stitching the Care Bear afghan in the past week. Everyone here is sick and just now getting back on our feet. And I just couldn't keep the stitching in mind. With jumping up and down to get things, it was just something that could wait. I did get several rounds done on the rectangle granny afghan, so it coming right along about 40% done.
That's all on my sewing room update.
Blessings,

Taking Time...
Hello All,
I'm taking time to add my blogs together. I have one at homeschoolblogger and one here at homestead, but I wanted to combine them together. And since I'm having a few other issues have decided to change blog titles and combine the two. Hopefully, this will solve my problem. So please forgive all the post's. If you know how I can combine my blogs without so many posting, please let me know.
Blessings,
Lynn

Bed Doll Dreams

Well, I have been wanting to make one and I plan on making a bed doll for my little for Christmas, she doesn't know I have this in mind, so it will be a complete surprise. My great aunt use to make bed dolls all the time. She had crippling arthritis, her hands were all twisted and her fingers and her toes actually layed on top of each other. Anyway, she was just an amazing woman, she never gave up. She use to make these beautiful bed dolls, her on pattern I'm guessing, because her bed dolls had many ruffles and were so beautiful. When you spread them out over the bed, they would cover most of the bed, with just wonderful layers. I remember watching her sew on the head and the hands, they had no body cause the dress would make up for the body and of course you hide your pj's under the doll and it would make it even puffier. When she passed away she had my doll started but it was never completed.

Here is the one I plan to make for my little girl. Her name is Ellie Mae, she is just beautiful and this could give me the chance to figure out how my great aunt made such wonderful dolls. I don't plan to use raspberry, but some other color of pink. And if I get the time I plan on make my little girl this one as well, Meaghan, I know she would love both of those dolls.

If any of you know where else I can find bed doll pattern's please let me know. I would love to make my little several bed doll's. And I would love to find one for myself.
I know some of you may be thinking, how do you keep those handmade gift's a surprise when your with your kids 24/7. Well, I plan on working on it a few hours at night after she goes to bed or get up two to three hours before she does. That way she'll never know I'm working on it.
Blessings,

Change A Moment

Over the year's, I have heard people comment, that when I hit my thirties, that there will be something that I would do different. My father told me the day I graduated high school, "one of these day's, you'll wish you could go back. Especially when you hit into your thirties." And I have heard so many people tell me the same thing. Well, I have been thinking about that in the past couple of day's. What would they have changed if they could? Apparently, there is something that they didn't get to do, but would do if they got the chance. I'm in my thirties, I'm 32 year's old. And I wouldn't change one moment. If I had the opportunity to change something, I wouldn't change it. Cause if I change one moment, I may not be content and as happy as I am right now. I may not have my two beautiful babies, I may not be married to a wonderful man that I have today. I may be a unmarried, very bitter, woman somewhere with a career that I don't like.
Isn't it wonderful, that God can guide and direct our lives, if we just take the moment and listen to him speak to us. God guided me down the path I'm on today and I'm very happy with everything that he has done for me. And I'm more than happy that he took control of my life when I was so very young and kept me in his arms. I was probably the only teenager in high school, who had a bible in her purse, if there was other's, I never heard of them. I allowed God to be my guide and direct my life in the way he wanted it.
I wouldn't go back and change things at all. I wouldn't want to start over. I'm satisfied with the way my life has turned out for me. I'm thrilled that I have the chance to homeschool my children, I'm thankful that I get to give my kids a hug whenever they need one, I'm thrilled that I'm in such a wonderful, loving relationship with my husband and I'm thrilled that God is still in control.
Many Blessings,

Busy Days..

What a week it has been already. I have 2 sick kids, one is camped out on the couch and one is camped out on the floor right now. Bless their hearts. Hopefully, they will start feeling better SOON.
Well, I have almost finsihed the baby blanket, I just like a couple more rounds on it. And I'm really getting a lot done on the Care Bear afghan. I haven't worked on it in a couple of days, with the babies being sick, I can't think about my stitches. So I'm sticking to simplier stitches, so I'm working on the baby blanket.
On the homestead, we have broody chicken's, we have a broody goose. Stay away from her and her husband. OUCH!!!! The kids have been staying away from them right now. Those geese can be mean getting around that nest, even within 10 feet of that nest. My garden is looking really great. Can't wait for fresh veggie's. And we have named our baby goat's. The little nanny has been named Penelope, Penny for short. She is just so cute!!! The little billie has been named Duke, I think that is what Sweet Pea named him. I'll have to confirm that a little later.
Well, that is it for right now. I have egg's boiling for pickled eggs.
Blessings,
