What a wonderfully productive family day we've had! When we got up this morning it was 9F! The cold is coming!
This morning, I made a sourdough starter (it's a must for Alaskans, but I haven't had the time until now to start it!). Then, we went to the small grocery store and the PO and then came home for a quick lunch. After lunch I made an apple crisp for the freezer. I am trying to make at least one thing on Saturday for my freezer that will help out during the busy week. I also started the dough for cinnamon rolls. Then the barn chores - I cleaned and disinfected our small goat barn and let it air out since it was so nice and sunny (still cold at 30F). Next I scrubbed the front porch and cleaned the outside of the windows. This is probably our last weekend before everything freezes hard until April. My hubby was doing a small repair on the roof and then cutting some wood and finally doing a thorough cleaning of the garage. We were so busy with the chores to get ready for winter, I couldn't believe it when the sun began going down at 5:00! We are losing close to 5 minutes of sunlight a day right now so it disappears quickly.
I am happily tired after a full day of working on the homestead. I feel that our home is such a blessing from God and working on it is a way to praise Him!
I hope you will all have a blessed and restful Sunday!
