Got my toothe fixed

{ 10:11 , Monday, February 8, 2010 } { 0 comments } { Link }
I went to the dentist today and got my tooth fixed. It didnt do any damage to the nerves, so he just did a simple bonding overlay. It looks like nothing ever happened.But the guys are still calling me snaggle tooth just to get a laugh at my expense. Dallas said I was a good little girl so I could have a sucker.It will still be sensitive for a while, I just have to be careful eating hard things like carrots and apples, etc. I was able to make it to the dentist even though we woke up to about 2-3 inches of snow on the ground this morning. At least there was no ice. Our next door neighbor was warming up the school bus at 5:30 am but they called school off. I had no idea what the dentist was going to do, so we were prepared to take the day off. David even took us because we thought if they had to do anything major he would sedate me. Im going back to have a cleaning and get another tooth fixed. Might as well, my deductible is met now for the year.

A lady that Momma goes to church with affectionately know as Ms. Jane, cleaned out her sewing room and gave us a bunch of material she was not using. Boy, did I have fun going through mine. Momma kept some and made me these cute aprons just because she loves me.
Photobucket Photobucket
Arent they adorable? Apparently shes having fun with her stash too.

I found a cute little project to do with some of the material. Im making some "Kid" sweaters for when the babies are born. Ok dont laugh. Joe Joes baby is due in March and I dont want the baby freezing to death on me, it might still be cold in March. I drew my own pattern and cut it out
Photobucket
Serged all my seams together,Photobucket
Hemmed the neck line, bottom of sleeves and bottom,Photobucket
Now for the finishing touch, I added a little lace if its a girl.Photobucket
I guess Ill have to make one for a boy too just in case. This should keep them pretty warm. The color is good so I can easily spot them from a distance if they get into a little mischief.

Well Im gonna go and watch the weather, we are in for somemore....what I dont know. Hope all is well.

Emergency Dental Work

{ 08:17 , Sunday, February 7, 2010 } { 2 comments } { Link }
Hope everyones  weekend was fine. We should be thankful, were not in the hospital, funeral home etc. We are here and breathing.

Friday I had to go back and review some Language (English) lessons. I forgot how hard predicate nominatives, direct objects, indirect objects, complements, etc was. Now diagraming them. I love diagraming the longer the better. I just had to refresh my memory a little.
Friday afternoon we got in the kitchen and did somemore baking. The boys helped me make some Chocolate Chip Cookies, and Chocolate Oatmeal Cookies. Thats the only way I can get them to eat oatmeal. Later I made some Whole Wheat Apple Butter Oatmeal muffins and then some with regular flour. SSSSSSHHHHHHHH dont tell nobody, there is one missing. Well, somebodies gotta taste test.
Photobucket
They were delicious. Great for breakfast or a snack.

You know your kids are growing when their feet are getting bigger. Ha! Dakota has gotten as tall as me and for a while we could wear the same size shoe. Now he has passed me. See.......
Photobucket
Look at that foot.!! Now, little man is catching up with big brother, he is almost my size.....Photobucket
Ok mines the one with the toenail polish...just kidding, you knew that.
My boys are gonna be like Daddy. Thats ok with me though, cause Daddy is my BIG POPPA PUMP!!!!!!!

Ok, now to the story of my introduction. Ive got to find a dentist tomorrow and have some emergency dental work done on one of my teeth. You see, I was hammering something up in my barn over my head and...................your starting to see a picture arent you? Uh, I dropped the hammer and BAM!!!!!!!!!!!! it hit me right in the mouth on my front tooth. Yes it hurt, no I did not cuss. I was too busy spitting out chunks of enamel. Now, I have been called snaggle tooth. Thats ok, Dallas said he still loved me even though I have a snaggle tooth. Aint he sweet? And no, Im not posting a picture of that. Dentists make me nervous so bad I could puke. Before they touch me they will have to knock me out.  I could kick and scream like a little girl. But I have to be brave just like I tell the boys. My gum has been sore and my head has hurt cause it got close to the nerve that runs through there. Well I needed some dental work done anyway. I guess nows a good a time as any. David has been trying to get me to go for years. I guess now I have the motivation.

Today was a good day in the Lord, Dallas was baptized today. My parents came and sang for us.
Photobucket
Bro. Ben picked him us for a second so we could see him. All  you could see was just from his neck up. Bro. Ben asked him if he had anything to say and he said.."I love my Mom!" I was trying not to cry, but that just did it. Pass the tissue please. My mother got the best shot though. You see that cross behind them? Well, she was to the right of it on a platform looking down into the baptistry. She got a good shotI also have the same shot of Dakota like that when he was baptized. Hallelujah, my family is complete. We are all going together.

We got home after church tonight and watched the Super Bowl. Ok, we are Colts fans. But somebody gets to win and somebody has to loose.

Now its bedtime and Im going to tuck the boys in and pray with them. Hope everyone has a good day. Will let you know how it goes at the dentist.

God Bless.

Catching up

{ 09:21 , Thursday, February 4, 2010 } { 1 comments } { Link }
We had a major ice storm hit our neck of the woods. No power, no heat for a few days. Power lines were not only froze but were down on our road. Trees were down in the road, and all bent over and breaking. We knew we had to hurry and get power back because one of our neighbors is on oxygen. My husband was a real steward and checked on them for several days and helping her change out her husbands tanks. The weather and no power and no heat pushed us to spend the night elsewhere. We will be making some adjustments in the next few months for next years preperations. We will be adding a 5 block gas heater and generator. We did have a great time at my mom and dads house though. We played many games of cards to pass the time. We also had a chance to see some more of my friends since Im from that area.

If you live in an area where you will be getting more snow here is a Snow Cream Recipe, I loved my mother fixing this for us when we were little. It just goes with cold weather.
Snow Cream
Ingredients

    * 1 gallon snow (16 cups)
    * 1 cup white sugar
    * 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
    * 2 cups milk

Directions

   1. Gather snow and place in a large, clean bowl. Stir in sugar and vanilla to taste, then stir in just enough milk for the desired consistency. Serve at once or freeze until later.

Hope you enjoy and have lots of fun playing in the snow!

The kids are doing great in school. We are now counting down the days. We only have 54 lessons left. Yea.
I have seen alot of changes in both boys. Dakota doesnt dread things as bad, he knows it has to be done anyway so he just as well get it over with. Dallas just does it. Dakota is my late sleeper, Dallas is my early riser. Its amazing at their personalities.

Im so excited, Dallas will be baptized Sunday. He has been telling me for a year that he asked Jesus into his heart and to be his Savior and I kept praising him. He wanted to know when could he be baptized, but at the time I didnt know if he really understood so I kept putting it off. Well a few months ago, he asked again and insisted he knows. So I asked him if he wanted to talk to our Pastor. He said yes as his little eyes lit up. So Bro. Ben talked to him and asked him questions. He asked the same questions several different ways and Dallas answered every single one. Bro. Ben said he knew more than I thought he did and he felt really comfortable so this made me comfortable. Dallas is more tender hearted and honest towards the Bible than Dakota was when he got saved. But they have different personalities. Now my circle is complete and I couldnt be happier. If it gets any better Ill just have to scream. I will video tape and take pictures. My parents are going to come and sing for us.

Dallas finally had the last of his bday. We took him to a place he wanted to go eat and he wanted sugar from the waitress. So she obliged. I dont have the picture but my mother does. It is precious. He was just grinning from ear to ear. He got a Star Wars cake for his bday.

Photobucket Dad has started taking Karate classes with Dallas. He is in the adults class. He doesnt want us to come watch until he gets good. He is too funny. Dallas has been teaching him alot.

We have also been enjoying alot of baking. One morning the boys wanted to help make some thing for dessert. I got the book and mixer out and let them have at it. Dakota measured and read the recipe, Dallas poured and manned the mixer. They did a really good job. It was delicious.  Many things made from scratch is a whole lot  healthier for you than things bought in boxes and ready made. For example, some things have preservatives added which is not healthy. Fresh is best whenever possible. MSG is not good for you either. It is a number two ingredient on alot of packages. So please, take the time to cook from scratch if you can. I love Amish cook books and baking books. They really know how to cook.

We rented WWE Royal Rumble and had the best time with some of my friends. Here is David getting beat up by the children before the main event.Photobucket
He loves playing with the kids and they love beating him up too.

Ive been doing more organizing and getting things ready for a yard sale we are going to have to raise money for church camp for the kids. Didnt know I had so much stuff.

Well it is getting late and I need to go pray with the boys before we hit the hay.

Counting down the days

{ 09:31 , Saturday, January 23, 2010 } { 1 comments } { Link }
Poor Dallas is counting down the days until his bday. It is Tuesday the 26th. We are going to go somewhere in Memphis. Daddy always plans bdays, anniversaries and etc. He is good at that. He loves to surprise his family.

Since we have been living here we have had very minimal furniture. Im talking only a recliner and a rocking chair. Our living room is so small. And we have some odd ball furniture. Like a Turkey cabinet, turkey table and a corner deer cabinet. All of these were made and mounted for David. They just take up alot of space. My mom and dad has had our living room suit we had special made 7yrs ago when we sold our house to travel with Davids job. Well, they got them a new suit and we got ours back. Halleluliah. It is so nice to have something farmiliar back with us. We had to really rearrange the room in order to fit everything thing in here. I remember lots of nights sleeping with Dallas in the big recliner and David sleeping on the couch with him. Dallas hated sleeping in his bed, he would cry til he threw up in it and we had to change the sheets 2 and 3 times. Finally I just gave up. He has never liked sleeping alone, still to this day. But now he does cause he knows hes a big boy. Every once in a while like on Friday nights, he'll pile up in Dakotas floor. Thank God for Big Brothers.

I have been going through the whole house organizing. Thanks to Molly at Econobusters.com for getting me motivated. I have been throwing out and packing up for a yard sale, rearranging furniture and etc. I have been so busy. Ive been so sore. The day after we moved all this stuff, I couldnt move for about 2 days. And no Im not about to show you pictures of my mess. ha
 The proceeds from my yard sale goes to Church Camp for the boys in the summer. Our church is going to take the 5th and 6th graders first and test it out this year. If all goes well, we will take all ages next year. It is for 4 days in June. We are going to have some fund raisers and they will help. We are planning a yard sale, carwash, bake sale selling church logo tshirts.  I will be a chaperone and Dallas will be with me. Thats the only way he can go is if I go with him. Each cabin will have 10 girls with me and 10 boys to a cabin with a male chaperone. I cant wait. Til June now.

But right now Im also getting ready for Joe Joe to have her baby. Ive got to clean out the barn nest month. She is due in March but we dont know what date. Im gonna be a nervous wreck all month. I will have to constantly check on her and watch for signs. They do give signs to let you know, "today is the day".  Im getting closer and closer to Ginger. She is letting me pet her more, as long as Momma is right there. Cocoa is still butting her around. Cocoa is in heat again so I know she is not pregnant. But she seems kind of sad. Like, "Im not gonna have a baby am I?" Ive got all spring to shapen her up and well try again next year. She will get nothing but pasture and hay. In Feb. I will be planting clover first, then seasonal grasses after that. I have to get hubbys help with this cause we spread seed with the tractor, he want let me on it. . Ive got to get all the help I can out of him before he goes back to TX is Feb or March.
The farm that I got my does from had a beautiful master buck for sale too. I couldnt get him yet, so I called a friend of mine and told her and she latched on right quick. So next year, I can take my girls to her. She is just about 20 minutes from here.

Ive got to replace some of my chicken flock. I lost some during this bitter cold weather.

The boys are doing good in school. Dakota is caring more about his grades now that he understands every grade made now goes toward a good scholarship if he wants to play football for someone.

Im getting seed catalogs in and planning my garden. Im so ready for spring.

Ill leave you with a funny note: I think the deer have been going and telling all their friends about our feeder in the back yard, cause now we have two raccoons that come up every night. Ha! One of the does has a hurt leg, but you know I cant get close enough to help her. In time it will heal.

Ive got to go do morning chores at the barn, cya ltr.

Early Valentines Day present

{ 07:55 , Saturday, January 16, 2010 } { 0 comments } { Link }
David (hubby) calls me into the computer/school room the other day and tells me he has found my Valentines Day present. But he doesnt let me see it at first. Hes holding me off. Finally, he pulls up a picture for me on the internet. And here they are:PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket
Arent they beautiful? The black on is Long and Prosper Jo's Joe Joe, affectionately called Sissy. The brown one is Long and Prosper Ginger. Joe Joe is the mother of Ginger. She is also pregnant with her second. She is due in March. We dont know exactly what day, so Im just gonna have to be watching every day. She will surprise you her owner said. So Im getting 3 yea!!!!!!! She is so friendly. Here we are loading them up.Photobucket
They rode really well in the trailer. Ginger is very skittish and scared. She hangs onto Momma. She is only a month older than Tasha. We got them home and let them out and showed them around. Well, guess who didnt like them. Cocoa. She has butted them around all over the place trying to show them whose boss. I was so afraid she was going to hurt Joe Joe since she was pregnant. This is very normal in a herd. They have to establish the "herd queen" as its called. This could take a few days. Cocoa was bound and determined she wasnt getting in the barn and I was determined she was.  Cocoa would actually block the door way and  not let her in. If I brought them in, she booted them out. She was being ugly. Finally, after everyone was settled for the night, Cocoa finally let them in the barn. The next morning they were all out grazing. Cocoa followed them around like she was showing them where to go and what to do and tell them, "This is mine and this is mine and you cant touch this or that". She's so bossy. It started raining and I was worried that she wouldnt let them in the barn tonight. To my surprise, I looked down at the barn and I think they are all in there. Phew!!!! She may be softening up a bit. Joe Joe doesnt care who is boss as long as she has a place to stay. She is really spoiled. The lady we got them from spoiled hers just like I do mine, so they fit in real fine. She will talk to you and her baby. It is so cute. She is loveable and friendly. I'll have to work with the baby. Itll take some time with her.

Im going to go a head and let her dry up because her body needs to rest before she has this baby. I might as well let Tisha dry up too, she is due in May. Im gonna have babies everywhere.

Sassy has created a game with me. The chickens meet me at the gate every morning. When I get through the gate with the Rhino, I say, "Last one to the barn is a rotten egg!!" and the race is on. Im driving, the chickens are actually running, and Sassy cheats and flies and beats everyone. She is just too funny. The other night when I went down to check on everyone, cause it was so cold, I heard her but couldnt find her. I looked everywhere. Finally something caught my eye up in the loft and it was her. I sounded just like she was laughing at me. She flew down then.

We had to unexpectedly replace the boys bathroom floor. Just he carpet. The toilet sprang a leak and it ruined the carpet. We were going to remodel their floor any way. We just got a head start. Ha! David replaced the carpet with tile and it looks so nice. I would have taken a picture but he looked like a sardine in a sardine can packed all up in that tiny bathroom. He was sore for days. Bless him! He has finished the underpinning of the house. Fixing to work on the rails of the porch. He has worked even on his time off. Bless him again. ha!

Last night we took Dallas to WWE RAW in our part of the woods. It is part of his bday surprise. His bday is the 26th of this month. He is counting down the days. He had no idea where we were going. The look on his face when we got there was "PRICELESS" He was so excited. Photobucket
My boys love to wrestle,so does daddy.

Ihave been having to review some Arithmetic lessons for myself. I hated math in school and did not do so well. If it had not been for some friends sitting close to me, I would have not passed any of my tests. SHHHH!!!! dont tell Dakota. Now that we homeschool, I want to learn it all. I enjoy it now. I still dont like story problems though.

Ive been doing alot of baking with my  new mixer that my boys got me for Christmas. Here it is in action. Photobucket
I have been doing some sewing and made some curtains for some rooms. Im getting ready to finish painting some rooms while it is still winter.

Well I hope everyone has a wonderful day tomorrow at church.....
