count it all joy

While I was in Mexico, we had daily bible studies. We went through the book of James, which was cool because i'd never read James before. There was one verse we read that caught my attention and I keep thinking about it so I thought I would write it down. The verse is James 1:2 Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds. It goes on to say... because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything...and that makes perfect sense and all, but it's just so hard to "count it all joy" even when bad things happen. Most..okay pretty much ALL the time, when something bad happens my response isn't to look at it with joy. I'm more likely to get frustrated or confused. I don't know...I guess a good step would be keeping a positive perspective and always keep in mind God has a plan and everything happens for a reason.  I didn't write this to complain about what he says we should do, by the way...I think it's a great idea, it's just not easy. But the harder the challenge the greater the reward, I rekon. Okay, I'm done rambling.

Cool! We have a friend who is in Mexico at this moment doing a mission trip. It's really cool!
I saw your dogs in the album. They're cute!

Good for you for taking God's word to thought like that! But you know, God may not be asking that you rejoice, exactly, when trials come, but at the same time, you should welcome them as a test of faith. I DO think that trials make you stronger if handled the right way. Trials force you to make choices and the choices you make will define who you are and how much trust you have in God. So wait, listening for His voice to speak and guide you along the narrow path. "You know the truth and the truth will set you free"!!! Open your heart and allow Him to mold you! Love,
~Olivia
