Animal heat

On the last few cold nights, we have a couple of kittens who snuggle down in the covers and keep us really warm. It’s surprising how much heat one of those babies puts out! We saw our midwife at The Farm today. I was concerned I was leaking amniotic fluid, plus I was having contractions, but everything is ok for now. I was under a lot of stress anyway – it was a rainy day and the solar panels and batteries were completely discharged. I couldn’t get the generator or charger to work and was in a lot of pain to boot. That forced Alex to come home early. Still, I’m 70 percent effaced and having contractions so I’m on self-imposed bed rest until Dec. 5. We figure we may have three good weeks for Alex to build our bedroom addition and get the water running. Pipes are installed – we just need everything hooked up to the cistern and a contraption in place for hot water. Alex is talking about running our generator from the spring so we have unlimited access to water. Hayes and I came back from doing laundry Monday to see a beautiful buck posing in the road near our house. Despite that hunting season is in full swing, we’ve seen a lot of deer during the day. One night we came home to see six running from our neighbor’s field. Yesterday a few of us from our homeschool group went to Nashville Zoo. Hayes loved the lorikeet exhibit the best because you could walk in, feed the lorikeets and they land all over you. She had to do that three times. I, on the other hand, am scared of birds and going in the exhibit with her was extremely stressful for me! Maybe that’s what started contractions.
