While tending to the horses tonight, Alex noticed Spellbound’s hind leg was flaring up. She suffers from cellulitus and has to have antibiotics to combat it. He tied her to the fence and tried giving her a pill – never having seen anyone give a horse a pill before and Spellbound wasn’t about to teach him. She backed up and pulled the board off the fence. So Alex hammered it back on making the poles stacked up on the fence fall over from the hammering, knocking over a gate also leaned up on the fence and tearing the newly hammered board loose again. Since our water situation is so dire, he made a concerted effort to cut down to the spring and got to it today. Now the plan is to dig it out, drive in a pole and concrete around it. Voila! Hopefully, we’ll have water woes solved. Hopefully. Yesterday Hayes and I scooped poop out of the pasture. I said to Alex, “Three horses. Two days. Two words: manure spreader.” Afterwards, we went to the Meriweather Lewis State Park, got a little bit of water to fill the camper’s tank and we all played in the creek to cool off. Then I had Alex help me rearrange the storage shed, which was so hastily filled after our move. Whenever we’re looking for something, one of us replies, “It’s in a box. In the shed.” So I got things in order, found stuff I needed and made room to boot. Reorganizing our shack is my next big project. Our cat, Black Magic, has been hanging around the camper and sleeping next to me at night. He seems to say, “Ok, enough of this wild cat business. Can we go home now?” Leave a Comment { Last Page } { Page 27 of 29 } { Next Page } |
