Scott & I did a Bible study this morning - was really interesting. We read Ex. 15 8With the blast of Your nostrils the waters piled up, the floods stood fixed in a heap, the deeps congealed in the heart of the sea. I never noticed the "blast of God's nostrils" before - interesting. Then to Rev. 3:8 An open door is where the power is. See! I have set before you a door wide open which no one is able to shut; I know that you have but little power, and yet you have kept My Word and guarded My message and have not renounced or denied My name. Back to Ex. 15 - Our way, like the children of Israel, can be bitter - the water was bitter. God showed Moses a tree. When Moses threw it in, the waters became sweet. Jesus died on a tree. When we come to the cross, He gives us living water. We will be tested. Anything of worth is tested. If it's not tested we don't know its worth. God tests growing Christians. It is the fire involved which purifies our faith. Mal. 3:1-3 - like refiner's fire & fuller's soap. So we may present to the LORD offerings in righteousness. Rev. 3:18 - 18Therefore I counsel you to purchase from Me gold refined and tested by fire, that you may be [truly] wealthy, and white clothes to clothe you and to keep the shame of your nudity from being seen, and salve to put on your eyes, that you may see. Buy gold - accept refining fire - don't run from it White garments - our righteousness as filthy rags - Song from a former church: I am the righteousness of God in Christ, A brand new creation in Him. I'm a partaker of His divine nature. On me He will not impute sin. Eye salve - able to see God's side of what He's doing Gold is the work Refined by fire is the presence of God Fire = presence of God Our God is a consuming fire (burning bush, baptism of Holy Spirit) other references about fire: Jer. 23:29 29Is not My word like fire [that consumes all that cannot endure the test]? says the Lord, and like a hammer that breaks in pieces the rock [of most stubborn resistance]? Mal. 3:2-3Jer. 20:9 James 3:5-6 Rev. 1:14 Acts 2:3 Deut. 12:29 II Thes. 1:7 John 15:6 I Cor. 3:13-15 Mt. 3:10-12 Is. 66:15-16 Heb. 12:29 Leave a Comment { Last Page } { Page 4 of 25 } { Next Page } |
