Mustang Rose on the Great Plains

• Thursday, March 29, 2007 - A New Day in Park River

I have always been interested in telling stories so blogging to me is wonderful. My name is Julie and I am married to a wonderful man named Tom. We have three daughter and one son, as well as eight beautiful grandchildren. I was born in California and raised in Michigan with my four brothers. I lived most of my life in Michigan, until moving to beautiful North Dakota a little over a year ago. Most people I talk to about North Dakota say the same thing, "Why in the world would you move to North Dakota?" And I always answer the same, "Have you ever been there, Have you ever met the people, have you ever seen the stars there?" And lately I could add have you ever seen the Northern Lights? The dark reds, the blues, the greens, the purples, the pinks and the yellows? I and I could answer yes to all of the above.

Like so many others I had never been to North Dakota, until I found our home for sale on Ebay and after carefull consideration we decided to make a trip here and check it out. The morning I woke up in our motel room in Grafton ND it was 14 degrees below zero. Yes 14 below!! I looked out the window and said to my hubby what are we doing here, we can just go home and forget about this, he had already been outside with my son and both of them said you have to come out it is beautiful!! There is now way it is that cold out here. Reluctantly I put my heaviest coat on and went to brave the elements. I stepped out of the door and I too agreed the temperature was now where near 14 below. The sun was shinning brilliantly and there wind was still. It was so beautiful!!

We decided to take a drive as we were not to meet with the people that we would buy from for awhile. Being from Michigan where there is an abundance of houses and trees I was so overwhelmed with the fact that you could see forever!! The skys were the most beautiful baby blue the clouds looked like huge cotton balls.
